About Us

Who We Are

A practice built around relationship-first care

The Haven is a counselling and wellness practice centred on a simple idea: people tend to heal when they feel safe enough to be honest, and understood enough to make sense of what they feel. We work with individuals, couples, and groups—and we pay attention to the story beneath the stress, not only what shows up on the surface.

Here, the pace is steady and unhurried. You are seen as a whole person, not a problem to fix. If you're navigating a hard season, strained connection, or a transition that has left you worn thin, you don't have to sort it out alone.

Our Approach

Honouring your story—and what lies beneath day-to-day struggles.

You are not broken—you are responding to your experiences.

Our work is attachment-informed: we pay attention to safety, bonding, and the relationship patterns that have shaped you. Narrative therapy influences how we listen—for the deeper stories and meanings you carry, and how those meanings show up in how you relate to yourself and others. When practical tools are the right fit, we also weave in cognitive behavioral strategies so you leave with skills you can use between sessions.

We draw heavily from emotion focused therapy (EFT), which looks at emotions and what lies beneath them, and invites curiosity and kindness toward what you're feeling so you can move forward without fighting yourself. With couples, EFT is especially helpful for moving past surface-level arguments into the longings and needs underneath—so connection can deepen with yourself and with your partner.

None of this is about labels for their own sake or a one-size-fits-all path. It's about what fits you—at a pace that respects you—as you make sense of your story and choose next steps that feel more aligned.

Brooklynn

I am Brooklynn, and I created The Haven from a deep belief that people need a safe place to land before they can truly heal.

I'm a teacher turned therapist. Those years in the classroom shaped how I think about children, families, and what people need in order to feel secure—and that lens still informs how I hold space in the therapy room today.

Motherhood has been a defining season in my own life—there's more about that work on our Motherhood Counselling page—and I'm passionate about making sure no one has to carry hard chapters alone. For a fuller picture of how I work in session—pace, style, and what to expect—you'll find that on our team page.
